Biting

During training, it's the sign of a frightened, frustrated dog.

When the word discipline is used as a synonym for punishment, you can bet that you are talking to a highly frustrated owner of a frightened dog that may bite. The solution is to develop "orderly behavior" (the primary definition of discipline) through training. Attempting to punish a dog without first understanding how to reinforce good behavior is risky. If you have gotten to this point without professional help, you probably need some now. Ask your veterinarian for the name of an experienced behaviorist or trainer.
