Marking

Owners should know the difference between marking and normal elimination.

The primary difference between scent marking and regular urination is in the quantity of urine deposited. Scent marking is usually a few drops sprinkled on vertical objects, such as table legs, sofa arms and priceless antiques. Normal elimination usually results in a pool of urine on the floor.

If the problem is normal elimination, food treats for correct behavior will often solve it. If, however, the dog is scent marking, consult your veterinarian for advice.
