Exessive Thirst Indicates Problems

Drinking habit may be a symptom of illness.

The consistent symptoms of excess water drinking and thus excess passing of dilute urine are termed polydipsia/polyuria (PDPU). They can be caused by a variety of serious internal organ diseases--especially in older dogs--including sugar diabetes, Cushing's disease, kidney failure and liver disorders. A complete blood count and a serum chemistry panel would quickly pinpoint or eliminate these potential killers.
