Goofy Dogs

Some dogs don't know how to behave in public.

For dogs that act up in public places, a choke chain doesn't work. Switch from a conventional collar to a head halter. It allows you to clip the leash under the dog's chin instead of at the back of the neck. By controlling the dog's head, you do not have to out-muscle or jerk the whole dog. Head halters are not muzzles; they do not restrict the dog's mouth, but they do offer greater control unless the dog is extremely unruly. A popular head halter is the Promise Collar, available from Ameripet at (800) 333-1231. The instructions that come with the collar suggest that you leave it on the dog for long periods of time. It is recommended, however, that you use it exclusively for walks and for socialization in public.
